Introduce the session with the lesson objectives.
Explain why we need to look after and move our bodies using slides 3 and 4.
Activity: Using a large space complete this as a practical activity. Ask pupils to move around the room in all the different ways on slide 5.
Explain why it isn’t possible to have a fit body without exercise using slide 6.
Keeping fit activity: Working in a practical space ask pupils to pair up. Pupils must complete all the activities on slide 7 and then reflect on them by answering the questions on slide 8. Explain to the class that young people need to do 60 minutes of exercise a day.
Types of exercise activity: Working in small groups ask pupils to list down all the different types of exercise/activities they can do under each category on slide 10. Invite pupils to feedback to the class.
Explain all the benefits of exercise using slide 11.
Exercise mapping activity: Map out the amount of exercise you do each week under the three headings on slide 12.
Activity: Ask pupils to work in small groups to create a song about all their favourite ways to exercise. Pupils can perform them to the class.
Reflection time: Recap the lesson with the class. Ask pupils what 3 things they have learnt today and what will you do differently next time.
