Equipment and Resources
Lesson PPT, paper, pen and colours.
Introduce the session with the lesson objectives.
Explain to the class what confidence mean using slides 2 and 3.
Circle time – Go around the circle and invite children to share something they think they are really good at (e.g., football) and then one thing that they enjoy doing.
Show the video about confidence on slide 4.
Power pose activity – Explain that power poses can boost our confidence and make us feel good and strong. Show slide 5 with different power poses on and practice them as a class. Next, play some music and when it stops get pupils to strike a pose and hold it. Ask pupils how it feels when they are doing the poses.
Flower power - Print off the template on slide 6 for each child. Ask children to decorate their flower with words that can build their confidence. E.g., I am… cool, friendly, smart and funny etc.
‘I am and I can’ - Print off slide 7 for each child and ask pupils to write down sentences about what they can do if they tried harder or a different way and what they are good at.
Super star award– Explain to children how important it is to praise others and to say well done. Print off the certificate template on slide 8and ask children to decorate a certificate for another member of the class. Give each child a name of another pupil they must create the certificate for,
