Introduce the session with the lesson objectives.
Explain what a hobby is using slide 3.
Group activity: Ask pupils to write down as many hobbies as they can think of. As a group ask them to select their top 3 hobbies and to explain their answers to the class. Use slide 5 as to show some example hobbies.
‘Act it out’ group activity: In small groups everyone must write down a hobby on a piece of paper and fold it up. One person must choose a hobby and act it out and the remainder of the group can guess what it is.
Class discussion: Ask the class to discuss why they think hobbies are important. Initiate feedback from the class and share the answers on slide 8.
My hobbies activity: Ask pupils to draw a poster to show all the hobbies they like to do. They can write down the types of skills they need for each hobby and make it bright, colourful and fun.
Show the video about hobbies to the class.
Our favourite hobbies: Working as a small group ask pupils to talk about their favourite hobbies. They must produce a mini role-play to show the following:
All of your favourite hobbies
Why you enjoy your hobbies
Be prepared to perform it to the class.
Reflection time: Ask pupils to think about 3 things they have learnt today and what they will do differently this week.
