Lesson activities
Starter Activity
Introduce the session with the lesson objectives.
Group discussion: Ask pupils to discuss and write down answers to the 3 questions about hobbies on slide 3. Initiate feedback from each group.
Explain what a hobby is using slide 4.
Main Activity
Group activity: On the board write a list of all the class hobbies and extras you can think of. As a class divide all the hobbies into different categories e.g. arts, music, food and drink etc. Talk about why pupils enjoy doing their hobbies.
Class discussion: Ask pupils to discuss why hobbies are important. Invite pupils to share their reasons and show the examples on slide 6.
Role play activity: Ask pupils to work in pairs and to choose one of their favourite hobbies to talk about. Pupils must describe their hobby without saying the word and their partner must try and guess what their favourite hobby is. Pupils can take it in turns to be in the hot seat.
My favourite hobby: Ask pupils to draw a picture of their favourite hobby. They must explain any skills their require for their hobby and explain why they enjoy it. Pupils can present their favourite hobby to the class.

Plenary
Group activity: Ask pupils to work in a small group and to talk about their favourite hobbies. They must create a mini film sketch, rap or song about all their hobbies and showcase it to the class.
Reflection time: Ask pupils what 3 things they have learnt today and what they will do different next time.
