Lesson activities
Starter Activity
Introduce the session with the lesson objectives.
Video: Show the class the video about friendships on slide 2.
Special people: Ask pupils to think about the special people in their lives such as their friends and family. Print off slide 3 for each pupil and ask them to draw or write about their special people.
Main Activity
Special people: As a class make a list of all the words that describe special people and why they are important in their life.
Friends: Talk about friends and how important they are to make us laugh, have fun with, share experiences, play together, listen to each other etc.
Friends: In small groups ask pupils to create an action song about their friends. Each group can perform it to the class.
Friendly cupcake – Print the cupcake worksheet out on slide 4 Ask pupils to use the caring words to show how they are a good friend. Children can add sprinkles e.g., a hug to their cupcake and decorate it.
Plenary
“Thank you” card: Ask pupils to design a thank you card to someone they care about or a special person in their life.
Reflection time: Ask pupils to think about 3 things they have learnt today and what they will do differently in the future.
