Starter Activity
Introduce the session with the lesson objectives.
Group discussion: Ask pupils to discuss the questions about feeling relaxed on slide 3. Initiate a whole class discussion.
Group discussion: Ask pupils to discuss the questions about feeling frustrated on slide 4. Initiate a whole class discussion.
Main Activity
Explain what mindfulness is and why it is important using slides 5 and 6.

‘The present moment’ activity: Ask pupils to sit quietly and pay attention to what is going on right now using their 5 senses. Ask pupils to then complete the questions about their experience on slide 8.
Explain what feelings are using slide 9.
‘Feelings forecast activity’: Ask pupils to talk about which of our feelings can be like the weather and which feelings might go with which symbols.
Discussion: Pupils can discuss with a partner what they do each week to help them relax.
Triangle breathing class activity: As a class complete the triangle breathing exercise on slide 13.
Show the rainbow breathing video on slide 14 and complete the activity.
Mindful posing activity: Ask pupils to have a go at the mindful poses on slide 16 and in pairs to come up with their own versions.

A helping hand activity: Pupils can draw around their hand. In each finger pupils can identify one person who they feel safe to talk to when they are feeling sad or worried or cross.
