Lesson activities

Starter Activity
  • Introduce the session with the lesson objectives.
  • Group activity: Ask pupils to work in groups and explain what anger is. Invite pupils to share their ideas with the class.
  • Talk and explain what anger and bad behavior is using slides 4 and 5.
  • Ask the class if they ever feel low and explain what it means and reinforce the message that it ‘is okay not to be okay’.
Main Activity
  • Groups discussion: Ask pupils to explain why they get angry. Initiate a whole class discussion about what makes pupils angry.
  • Role plays: Working in small groups ask pupils to work through the situations displayed on slide 10. Invite pupils to act out their role play to the class.
  • Group discussion: Ask pupils to discuss how they can control their anger. Gain feedback from each group and create a list on the board.
  • Talk through the top tips to control anger on slide 12.
Plenary
  • Remind pupils to be kind to themselves and to never be afraid to ask for help. Talk through who they could ask for help or support using slide 14.
  • Recap the lesson and ask pupils to talk about 3 things they have learnt and what they will do differently from now on.
