Lesson activities
Starter Activity
Introduce the session with the lesson objectives.
Group activity: Select children to explain what anger is. Invite pupils to share their views with the teacher
Talk and explain what anger and bad behavior is using slides 4 and 5.
Ask the class if they ever feel low and explain what it means and reinforce the message that it ‘is okay not to be okay’.
Main Activity
Groups discussion: Ask pupils to explain why they get angry. Initiate a whole class discussion about what makes pupils angry.
Group Activity: Working in small groups ask pupils to create a list of situations of anger (Slide 10). Children are asked to use either their own experiences or they can make up a situation.
Group Activity Continued: Ask groups to exchange lists and attempt to write down how it would make them feel and also how they would react to each situation.
Talk through the top tips to control anger on slide 11.
Enable opportunities to showcase examples of anger and how children would react to them if they faced anger in their life.
Plenary
Remind pupils to be kind to themselves and to never be afraid to ask for help. Talk through who they could ask for help or support.
Recap the lesson and ask pupils to talk about 3 things they have learnt and what they will do differently from now on.
